Jansyn's middle name is Torrey, but I think it should have been Tornado. She is 4 years old and she has already worn me out.
Lets just re-cap the last month to month and a half. My guess is you will be tired before you are done reading it (or you will have laughed so hard you peed your pants!) Either way, welcome to my world.
Let's start with the curtains - many of you have seen the picture on facebook or actually seen the curtains in person -

My children and scissors are not a good mix .... Jansyn has cut her hair, and now her curtains. I think she has a fetish for short things. She cut her hair because she wanted it short. Now she cut her curtains because they were hanging in her toy box and she didn't like that... she thought they should be shorter.
Just to be fair here, Deryn is no angel with scissors either - she is the one that got mad at me and hid in my closet with the scissors and randomly cut holes in 5 different dresses and skirts - only one was salvaged.
Next up, the mud puddle in the back yard that resulted in the muddy footprints on the kitchen floor, causing it to be mopped for the 2nd time in one day.

Just yesterday, Jansyn's garbage can felt like smashing a trail of raspberries on her bedroom carpet - Please note, Jansyn did not do this, the garbage can thought of it all by itself. This did mostly scrub out - thank goodness!
The hand soap on the bathroom carpet didn't scrub out as well - it continues to get bubblier the more you scrub.
Somehow she broke the decorative trim off my hope chest and it had to be glued back on.
One of my sandwich plates is labeled with Jansyn's name in permanent pink marker. This continues to fade everytime I wash it - so a couple more weeks and that should be gone!
Today she was making "potions" in the basement with chocolate milk, hand soap, and water.
Last time the visiting teachers came she disappeared downstairs and managed to transfer most of the cold water in our workout room water cooler to the workout room floor.
Last night, I thought I should check on the tortoises before I went to bed - good thing I did! Poor Sally had been placed in a plastic container by Jansyn. And, just incase she tried to escape, a larger plastic container had been placed over that container so that Sally was in a plastic container box.
Jansyn drew all over the front of her dress with permanent marker - this has now been moved to the dress up clothes box.
Sometime during our drive to St. George the wall part on Jansyn's side of the car was labled mom, mom, mom, multiple times in red crayon - Hooray she can spell mom!
Earlier this week, Jansyn found my bead container - the one with all the compartments and the beads sorted according to color and size --- yeah, that is no more. She dumped that out all over the bedroom floor to make "cooler" carpet for her barbies. Now the ones I bothered to pick up are all jumbled together. The little ones I got tired of picking out from between the carpet were vacuumed up.
This however is odd, because she also spends countless hours sorting things. The monopoly money was all sorted according to color and placed in various around the house.
The day I made pillows and blankets for their dolls, she removed all the pins from my pin-cushion and then re-inserted them according to color so that like colors were together.
Here is a picture of Jansyn making patterns and designs --- heaven forbid the living room floor would not have anything on it!
Circles all the way back to the front door!
The last week in June, Jansyn came to school with me while I was making some copies for next year. She got bored in the copy room and disappeared. When I was done I found her in the Commons. She had taken all the chairs (which were neatly stacked against the wall so the carpets could be cleaned) and made a tunnell from one side of the room to the other. The chairs were in two rows. Each chair had been placed flat on its back with the legs touching the legs of the opposing chairs. Thus she had a tunnell she could crawl through.
Are you tired yet? 'Cause I am! and that was just June and 10 days in July!
Let me mention a couple of other notable events:
To clearly understand the impact of the first event, you must understand our furniture history. My husband does not like to spend money on furniture. If he can get it for free and it works, he is happy.
So, the bedroom furniture was mine before we were married. Couches and chairs downstairs - hand-me downs from his parents. Living room and kitchen furniture - I babysat for a while to save money for these.
We have one piece of furniture in the house that he authorized me to buy without cost being a factor. That is the black cabinent that sits in our living room. When we moved to this house he found a picture in a magazine that looked exactly like our living room layout. He like the design. He handed me the picture and said buy stuff to make our living room look like this.
We already had couches of course, so this meant the black cabinet, mirror, decorative plant, and some decorations for the ledge!
Wow! One piece of nice furniture that we both agreed on! Purchased brand new - nobody's hand-me down, no DI special!
This is the piece of furniture that Jansyn chose to use an antenna (which she broke off her radio) to scratch a lovely design across the top of.
REALLY!? Can't we just have one nice thing in the house???? PLEASE????
Of course in all fairness, she didn't discriminate. The couches recieved their own design with ink and the hope chest, well you already read about the hope chest.
The other notable episode was when we had friends over for dinner. Afterwards we went downstairs to see pictures from Ann's vacation. The kids of course became bored and disappeared. What were they doing? Well, apparently if you shove polly pocket accessories down the bathroom drain and then turn on the water and let it run, you can flood not only the bathroom upstairs, but the office down below as well!
It's always exciting and exhausting with Jansyn! I can't wait for the mothers curse to kick in! (don't worry, I only wished her to have 5 children like herself!)

Yes, she really is standing on her head watching movies on the i-phone!
