I thought this was amazing for her first year of competition gymnastics. The State meet had 85 competitors ages 7 - 11. The top six overall scores became the official Utah State team, the next two highest scores were the alternates, and the next 15 were the All Star team for Utah. Jansyn was part of the All Star team. So, out of 85 girls she was somewhere in the top 21!
She did a good job at the Regional competition, but there were some really good gymnasts. It was the only meet she has been in that she has not placed in something. She was upset about this, but we were just proud of her for qualifying to be there.
Emily and Marc both came to see her compete, and Allan flew from San Francisco to meet us in Vegas for the competition. Here are some of the pictures from the meet/competition.
But of course we didn't just want to see gymnastics... we had to see some other things too!
We went to see the Las Vegas Temple and took some pictures on the temple grounds, here are a few of them...
Dad & Deryn
Deryn, Emily, Jansyn and Marc .... Allan, why do I have no pictures of you????
Jansyn
Deryn
This house was across from the temple .... I think it looks like a great place to live!
We went to an aquarium and saw a mermaid.....
We went bird watching... the best part was when we were all quietly watching the birds and then we hear Deryn yell, "Jansyn! Get your head out of my scenery!"
We went to the Hoover Dam. After we had been walking around for a while, Jansyn finally asked, "When are we going to see the Dam?"
Mike replied, "We are standing on it"
To which Jansyn said, "We are? I thought there would be sticks."
Apparently we have never discussed the difference between man made dams and beaver made dams....
And of course we had to stop for lunch before taking Allan back to the airport.
After dropping Allan off, we drove to St. George to spend the night at our condo. We did a little hiking the next day before continuing home.
Jansyn and Deryn on the "Elephant Head" ... or at least we think it looks like an elephant head and trunk.
Catching Frogs!
And that's the end of a very fun weekend! Unfortunately it was my last saturday off work for a while.. my arm has healed enough to go back to work.
